Unity Center Youth Leaders are students 7th grade and up who serve in various leadership capacities.  Their most important responsibility is to serve as role models for the younger students.

To be eligible they must have attended the FUTURE afterschool program during the previous year.   They are selected through an application and interview process.  The students then participate in a required training program.

 

  • Snack Preparation and Service
  • Tutoring
  • Manage monthly Bible verse memory program
  • Assist Project Leaders
  • Turning lights and computers on and off
  • Collecting and sharing prayer concerns
  • Maintaining school supply caddies for homework time
  • Changing message on outdoor sign
  • Assist Unity Center Staff as needed
  • Thursday Youth Group - deals with topics generated by the youth such as, politics, peer pressure and relationships, environment, and war and peace.  They also participate in related service projects.
  • Teacher Tea - assist in all preparations including generating teacher lists, invitations, food preparation, room set-up, greeting and clean-up.
  • Trunk or Treat - partnering with Broad Street UMC, the youth provide leadership for games and provide a trunk with treats for all children.
  • Summer Day Camp - youth serve as assistants to volunteers and staff on a selective basis.
  • Wonders in the Woods - youth train for and serve as junior and senior counselors at several camps.
