Volunteers in the Storycatchers program help improve 1st and 2nd graders’ reading skills through a variety of fun activities.
“Perpetual Motion” Thursdays provide an opportunity for volunteers to “play” organized physical activities with students.
“Oktoberfest”, FUTURE’s month of enrichment activities, needs any volunteer who has a skill that can be shared with a small group of eager-to-learn students. Events – Throughout the year there are a variety student and family events when volunteers are needed. Jobs can vary from flipping pancakes or frying sausage at the annual Shrove Tuesday celebration or supervising activities at the end of school year auction or assisting at annual Back to School Bonanza breakfast or even baking Christmas cookies. There are continual emerging opportunities.
Required Training Safe Sanctuaries – an annual video format training focusing on policies on safety in our buildings during emergency situations and policies to protect children and youth from sexual abuse and exploitation Tutor Training – a annual in-person training that focuses on practices and policies related to dealing with children on a day-to-day basis. This training is normally offered twice a year.
